Controls Applications Engineer
current opening — Columbus, Indiana
Our Controls Team is currently seeking a Controls Application Engineer to become an integral member of the Controls Engineering Team and work in direct relationship with one of our Product Development Teams. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Develop controls algorithms for drivers of various automotive powertrain subsystems
- Create and execute test plans for controllers and systems
- Troubleshoot components and systems
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Electrical Engineering Degree with a Controls concentration and a minimum of 3 years experience in developing automotive controls applications. Travel will be required.
Development Engineer - Ignition Systems
current opening — Columbus, Indiana
Our Control and Ignition team has a position available for Development Engineer. You will be an integral member of the team and work in direct relationship with one of our product development teams. Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Obtain new ignition component designs and samples, such as coils, electronic modules, and spark plugs
- Specify bench and engine tests for ignition components
- Analyze component failures and work with suppliers to develop implement corrective actions
- Analyze test data and generate conclusions based upon statistical results
- Create technical reports documenting work and results and writing engineering releases that adhere to product definition standards and guidelines
- Define engineering requirements specifications for ignition components
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Electrical Engineering Degree with controls concentration. Your minimum of 3 years experience has developed your capability to understand electrical and electronic systems and their interactions with engine systems. You have proven ability to problem solve and determine corrective actions with suppliers and write engineering releases, specifications, and standards. Overall you possess good communication skills and can handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Experience with spark-ignited components or engines is desirable but not required. Exposure to Six Sigma would be an asset.
Base Engine Development Engineer

We are currently accepting resumes for the position of Base Engine Development Engineer. In this role you will use your broad natural gas and or diesel engine development background to support both base engine and subsystem design and hardware development. As a Base Engine Development Engineer your duties will include producing engineering design drawings and specifications for base engine integration including structure and release work for new parts and documentation of test results. You will also be responsible for writing and performing test protocols as well as generating reports from your data analysis for improved product performance. Working with Cross-functional groups (CPE, Ignition and Controls and Service engineering) you will work on both current product support and new product development projects.
The ideal candidate possesses a Mechanical Engineering degree plus 3-5 years of relevant engine design and development experience with demonstrated knowledge of engine development and testing principles. You are a self-starter and work well in a fast paced, diverse and multi-functional group setting. You have demonstrated your proficiency with computer software including PRO-Engineer and MS office.
Technical Project Leader

As an integral member of the Product Engineering team, the successful candidate will lead the technical development for state of the art automotive natural gas engines. Responsible for the coordination and integration of engineering activities to deliver technical projects to the full technical requirements the core responsibilities and accountabilities are:
- Manage the Project Teams to integrate and balance the plan (scope, schedule, resources and program risk), through identifying, tracking and resolving project-level issues
- Support the development and integrity of the program Contract, Master Schedule, Value Package Profile, Target Cost, Quality Targets, Resource Plan, and other supporting cross-functional documents for the program
- Promote effective team development within the Core and Extended Teams in terms of team development work, team effectiveness, program organization and structure, effective meetings, recognition, diagnostics, etc.
- Make sure that VPI program work is included in Core Team member's CPMS (performance management system)
- Use quality tools to proactively identify program risk areas and integrate appropriate countermeasures into the program plans
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge gained and learned between team members and other teams within the organization
- Manage Communication though effective recording and reporting
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree (Masters Degree is an asset) with a minimum of 5-7 years experience either at a functional or project management level of developing engine or industrial applications. You have been a proven technical contributor on several full cycle product development projects. From the success you have created you have developed the following skills, knowledge and experiences:
- Development process knowledge required for effective problem analysis and resolution
- Strong technical writing, written communication and oral presentation skills
- Strong process discipline and organizational skills with experience in running parallel projects with multi-year timelines
- Quality Systems (APQP/TQS/Audits)
- Six Sigma (DMAIC, DFSS, CFSS)
- Configuration Management
- Ability to perform Program Risk Assessment, FMEA or otherwise
