Environmental Leadership

Cummins Westport is the leader in providing natural gas engines for commercial transportation applications

Cummins Westport natural gas engines are certified to meet the most stringent emission standards – before they come into effect. In 2002 the C Gas Plus was the first heavy duty engine certified to 2004 EPA emission standards, and in 2007 the Cummins Westport ISL G was the first heavy duty engine certified to 2010 EPA Emission Standards, three years ahead of time.

The environmental benefits of natural gas  are significant:

  • Low carbon fuel
  • Renewable natural gas for vehicles can be produced from landfills or organic waste, resulting in up to 90% less GHG emissions.
  • Lower cost compared to diesel or petroleum fuel
  • Contributing to energy security, as an abundant, North American resource that lessens reliance on imported oil.
